Halifax West End Golf Club will be returning to a full 18 hole layout for the 2027/28 season following a programme of improvements and redevelopment at the Club.

A small portion of the club's land which contained parts of two holes, an overflow car park and a large area of mature trees and non-playable rough has been sold to fund these developments.

Fifteen of the holes on the course will be unaffected, in playing terms, by the development although the income generated has funded great improvements to the existing greens, tees, fairways, bunkers and clearance of rough and pruning of trees. The order in which the course is played will change slightly although a round will still start in front of the newly-refurbished Clubhouse, over the pond, to the same first hole.

The changes will require the installation of one new green on part of the former practice ground which will form a dog-leg 11th hole from the existing 11th tee. There will be some tree removal, with replacement and additional planting to define the new hole - new bunkers will also be created. A new tee will be created for the existing 12th which will be shortened but remain a par 4 with the addition of new bunkers. The former 18th will remain the final hole but will be shortened to become a challenging, uphill par 3 into the prevailing wind finishing near the Clubhouse.

The work will commence in late Summer 2026 and the course will remain open and playable throughout, perhaps with some additional GUR. Although some parts of the new layout may come into play sooner, the full course will open for the start of the 2027 season.
